Emmanuel Training Centers
Project 127, a group of women working to further the kingdom of God through orphan care, both here and abroad, has been given the opportunity (the gift!) to partner with Paul Manzaza and Emmanuel Training Center in the DRC .
God gave Paul Manzanza a vision years ago of a training center in the DR Congo where the number one priority would be to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ while also teaching individuals a skill to enable them to become autonomous. Two years ago, this vision became a reality.
The purposes of the Emmanuel Training Centers (provided by Paul Manzanza)
· The main purpose is to spread the Good news of Christ. In our targeted areas, many people believe in African false gods. Some people think that JESUS is for white people and as black people we should worship our own gods.
· Second, the rate of poverty is very high. People need to learn a skill to help them be autonomous.
· Third, I am also helping orphans that did not have the opportunity of being adopted to learn a skill.
There are three main programs at the training centers.
· Sewing – The sewing program teaches individuals how to make clothing such as shirts, skirts and dresses as well as bags and wallets.
· Language – The language program teaches French and English speaking, reading and writing as well as Lingala reading and writing.
· Computers – There are many different computer classes such as introduction to computers, excel, word, internet, photoshop, typing and networking computers.
There are two locations currently. The sewing training center is located in the Kimbanseke commune with 30 students enrolled and the language and computer training center is located in the Nsele commune with 130 students enrolled . The Emmanuel Training Centers are covered under the Non-Profit Organization registration of the Baptist Church Paul attends.
The training centers are open to anyone who would like to learn and can pay tuition. In addition to those who can pay, Paul has opened the training center to older orphans some of which receive scholarships, and others are able to supplement their tuition by performing administrative tasks at the centers. He has been working with five older orphan boys over the last two years to teach them computer skills. Three are now trained and have become employed teachers at the Emmanuel Training Centers.
The main income and expenses are as follows:
The sewing program tuition is $100 for three months plus an additional $50 fee for supplies. Depending upon the individual, the program can take between six and twelve months to complete.
The language program tuition is broken up into four levels. The first level is $10, the second level is $15, the third level is $20 and the forth level is $20. Each level takes approximately one month to complete.
There are different fees for each computer class. They range from $10-$50.
The Reeds of Hope Organization currently sponsors fifteen ladies attending the sewing program and five orphans attending the computer program.
The monthly rent for the sewing center is $150 and the monthly rent for the computer and language center is $500.
The percentages of income received are used as follows:
Tithe – 10%, with this amount they visit orphanages, prisoners, and sick individuals.
Maintenance – 20%, this includes gas for generators, rent, materials, and repairs.
Director – 20%, this is the income paid to Paul Manzanza.
Personnel – 50%, this is the income split between the paid teachers.
There is a compound available for purchase in the Nsele commune for $100,000. This compound is made up of seven rooms and a small house surrounded by a concrete wall. Paul would like to use the rooms to offer training classes in sewing, computers, reading, writing, French and English. He would also like to allow older orphans attending a training course temporary housing while enrolled. Once these individuals have learned a skill and have become employed, they will obtain their own housing allowing housing for future individuals. He would also like to begin a new church at this compound.
The compound is ready to be utilized in its current state. In the future, as monies come in, they will repair some of the concrete floors and apply paint as needed. The supplies and equipment that the current Emmanuel Training Centers are using will be moved to this location and as additional funds come in from student tuition more supplies and equipment will be purchased.
Neither Paul nor the Church Paul attends in the DR Congo have the means to fund the purchase of this compound. We believe God has called Project 127 to provide the funds for this compound. With the gift of the money to purchase the compound, the Emmanuel Training Center will be able to use the money currently used for monthly rent to sustain the current programs, provide scholarships for older orphans and expand to add additional programs in the future by the grace of God and with his leading.
We will be working to fund the purchase of a building to be used by Emmanuel Training Center to teach local orphans skills they can use to begin providing for themselves and their families. Our goal was $100,000 and God blessed us with the first $22,800. So with your help our new goal is $77,200!
We know that NOTHING is impossible with our God!
As we kick off our efforts, we would love to have your help! First, will you pray for us? Please pray for the community in the Congo that will benefit from this mission. Please pray for those in need to be connected with Emmanuel Training Center. Please pray for Project 127 as we work to serve Christ and raise the money. Please pray to thank Christ for the blessings and gifts that have already been present in this mission!
Our vision is huge! We have faith that Christ will reveal much more than we can imagine through this mission. We have faith that partners will join us from all over in prayer, in foot work, and in giving. We hope that you and your faith will come alongside us, helping us reach our goal.
